Jamaican man arrested in Antigua after 60 pounds of marijuana seized at airport

ST JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC — A Jamaican man has been arrested in Antigua as police investigate the seizure of 60 pounds of marijuana during a joint drug interdiction operation at V.C. Bird International Airport last Sunday.
The police said officers attached to the Narcotics Department, along with members of the K-9 Unit and the Customs Enforcement Unit, conducted a coordinated operation at the airport and seized a black suitcase and a green suitcase containing a total of 19 sealed packages of cannabis.
According to police, the marijuana has a street value of EC$360,000.
The man was subsequently arrested and taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation.
He is expected to be charged and brought before the court.
