NASSAU, Bahamas, Mar 10– A Jamaican man has been remanded in the Bahamas after he pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges of drug and gun possession.

The prosecution told Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans that Akeem Williams, 30, was in the country on a visitor’s visa when police allegedly found him with 14 grams of cocaine, a .40 pistol, and 14 unfired rounds of ammunition on March 5.

Williams entered not guilty pleas to charges of drug possession with intent to supply, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of ammunition.

The prosecution said Williams arrived in the country on February 25 and was given permission to stay until March 17.

The court has since been told that immigration authorities have decided to revoke his visa due to the charges.

Williams is scheduled to reappear in court on June 15.
