MegaMart's big 10!

MegaMart continued its 10th anniversary celebrations on Thursday, February 11 with a media appreciation party at the Terra Nova All Suite Hotel along Waterloo Road, St Andrew.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer Gassan Azan kept his word that the speeches would be brief, as he thanked the media for keeping the MegaMart family informed but for also forcing them at times to look in the mirror. He stressed the need for a free press and lauded the media for continuing to play their part in the support of democracy.

But the evening was ruled by music. The Bare Essentials band, led by the energetic Richie Canary, had a good vibe going early on, with their mix of old and new reggae renditions. They then kept the groove going after the few words from the MegaMart boss, doling out copious amounts of Alton Ellis hits before switching to more uptempo, party music like the perennial favourites

Ladies Night
. When they took their leave, DJ Gladdy of Wild Bunch did not let guests get too far from the dance area before starting his soca segment. He kept the little groups of dancers busy for the rest of the event.
