The Editor, Sir:

I am writing about the ban on celebrations for the Boys & Girls' Champs next weekend. I find it very odd that the police are targeting the children on the island because they are young and it would make them seem like they, the police, are doing a good job. Why did they not put a ban on that celebration for Christopher Coke's birthday party after which a shooting occurred?

As long as I can remember, we always have fun before and after Champs, and that is part of the whole process. If and when any mischief occur, it's such a small minority involved that I think it would be unfair to deprive the entire school population of that fun time.

Championships is one of the largest sports celebrations in the island and I feel it will miss some of its flavour without the celebrations.

I am, etc.,
