WESTERN BUREAU: Former film commissioner Del Crooks gathered her nearest and dearest in Mammee Bay, St Ann, to celebrate that important milestone - her 60th birthday on June 7.
Heading the list was dear friend and husband D'Arcey who performed a classical jazzy rendition of Happy Birthday in front of the 45-member crew.
National Football League presenter Steve Wyche and his wife Deann jetted in from Atlanta for the weekend festivities, while Karen Fuller was in from Florida. The small but comfortable crew was punctuated with people who the birthday girl shares friendships with from as far back as 1971 when she was runner-up in the Miss Jamaica competition. One of the hallmarks of the group was its representation of all aspects of Del's life.
The party started early Friday afternoon and went into Sunday with no major breaks. The activities were complemented by the odd game of kalooki and dominoes; some relaxed with a good book; but most of the time was spent catching up with old friends. Richie Clarke was on 'fire' with the selections on the turntable, and received exciting responses when the Latin music pumped through the air.
Del Crooks was elated to have all her pals with her and she took time out to say "thanks".
The lyme was just that ... easy-going but fun - a good time was had by all.
