LONDON, England (CMC):

Jamaican international Marlon King is on the hunt for a new club after completing a jail sentence for sexual assault.

The 30-year-old striker was convicted last October but was released last week after serving just half of an 18-month term.

On loan from Wigan Athletic to Hull City in the English Premiership at the time, he was subsequently sacked by Wigan.

King, who has had disciplinary issues at national level, said he was ready to rebuild his mangled career.

"I do not expect to walk into a team and understand there's a lot of heat on my name at the moment," he said. "Life goes on. I still have to go out and work and feed my family like everyone else."

King's agent Tony Finnigan said he was already scouring for an outfit for the player.

"I've spoken to people in football and I'm asking for interviews, and I'm asking clubs who may have been interested in the past to sit in the room with this person and interview him," he said.

King, a frontman who boasts strength and pace, has played for Nottingham Forest, Watford, Middlesbrough and Gillingham in his professional career.

Coventry City's Aidy Boothroyd, who managed King at Watford, hinted this week he was entertaining the possibility of signing the player.

"I wouldn't say there was zero chance but I wouldn't say there was a very good chance," said Boothroyd.

"I am sure in the next few weeks he will make a decision on where he wants to play, and I am sure, at some point or another, he and I will sit down and have a chat about it, and he will ask my opinion because we have a relationship from the times we had at Watford."

Coventry will campaign in the English League Championship this season.
