The 2010 Gleaner-sponsored Pulse Caribbean Model Search is now on. This year's search will feature more than the usual new model hopefuls, adding major celebrities, international supermodels and superstar performers headlined by R&B recording star Shontelle.

New faces will compete in four categories for the titles - Jamaica Fashion Model, Petite Jamaica Fashion Model, Male Face of Jamaica and Full Figured Fashion Model at the finals, which will be held on Sunday, September 5 at the Wyndham Kingston hotel.

Shamoya is a fifth-form student at The Queen's School taking nine CXC subjects. However, she is dreaming of a life of travel and adventure. She has found her adventures at Pulse "fun and exciting" and says that she has met many people and can now walk more easily in heels. She is poised to stomp runways in the future, when not fulfilling her dreams of jetsetting across the globe. In the meantime, Shamoya contents herself with surfing the Internet and reading for more information on her dream destinations, watching television, singing and dancing.

This poet and author in the making is poised to rock the petites category of the model search. She shook up the competition with her daring and dynamic moves in the official photoshoot. This being her second attempt, Phyllicia is determined to make the most of the opportunity. A recent graduate of St Hugh's High School, where she studied management of business, information technology and geography, Phyllicia was also heavily involved in various clubs and activities, especially the school's Model Club.

Shantel hails from Kingston, the Jamaican fashion capital and the home of Pulse Investments. This recent Immaculate Conception High School graduate is on her way to set the University of Technology, Mona, ablaze with both her looks and brains. With aspirations including a career in finance and family law, Shantel also hopes to find herself among the ranks of models such as Naomi Campbell and Jaunel McKenzie. While at high school, Shantel excelled in track and field, placing in top positions in both the 100 and 200 metres. Now her eyes are fixed on the finish line of the model search and the first place is the gold medal on her mind.
