Defending champions and favourites, Scotiabank A, will oppose former winners General Accident in today's final of the Wisynco Business House Open League netball competition at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting 6:30 p.m.

The match will be preceded by the consolation final between National Housing Trust and Sagicor, starting at 4:45 p.m.

Scotia and General Accident secured their place in the final after contrasting semi-final victories over Scotia B and Jamaica Broilers, respectively, on Thursday.

Scotia A, who are seeking their second straight hold on the trophy, registered an easy 40-19 win over sister team Scotia B, and Naudia Brown, captain of Scotia A, is very optimistic about her team's chances.

Expecting to win

"We are very confident because we have been training really hard and also working on our different combinations, and so we are expecting to win this match," said Brown.

She added: "General Accident is always a very tough team to beat and so it is going to be a very competitive game, but I think we have what it takes to beat them, once we execute our game plan."

Brown continued: "However, I think that the team that makes the least mistakes will win, but I believe that once our attackers have a good game we should come out on top."

Along with Brown, national representative Nichala Gibson, Marsha Murphy and Kameika Sherwood are expected to lead Scotia's charge for a win.

General Accident booked their place in the final with a comfortable 27-17 victory over Jamaica Broilers. Oberon Pitterson, player/coach of General Accident, who are making a return to the competition after a one-year break, is also very optimistic.

"We are very confident even tough we are going to be without one of our top players, Nadine Bryan, who is away on national duties. But I think, based on our combinations and what we have been doing, we should be able to come out on top," said Pitterson.

"I believe that in order for us to win, we will definitely have to convert our shots, and also, we have to disrupt their attacks to our advantage, so that we can get second shots off," she said.

Pitterson, a former national cpatain and coach, added: "I think we have quite a few experienced players in our squad who play in the JNA leagues and they know how to win, and this is what they are prepared to do on Saturday.

Along with Pitterson, former national goal shooter Margaret Lawrence, Tamara Hylton and Peter-Gaye Thomas represent Gerneral Accident's hopes for a win.
