BOG WALK, St Catherine:
USERS OF the main road linking Bog Walk to Knollis and adjoining communities in St Catherine, are urging authorities to effect speedy repairs to a section adjacent the Rio Cobre River.
The thoroughfare broke away just over two months ago, after heavy rains associated with Tropical Storm Nicole drenched the island.
A female resident of West Prospect who traverses the roadway daily, told The Gleaner that some motorists display a lack of patience during peak hours.
"The authorities need to fix the road as early as possible because it is very dangerous when there are a lot of vehicles on the road; everybody wants to pass at the same time," she explained.
A taxi operator who plies the Bog Walk-to-Riversdale route, indicated that delays in carrying out repairs could result in further damage.
"The people who a fix it fi try to do wey dem a do fast, because the longer it tek, the more it will break away."
One resident of the nearby Shenton district pointed out that "whole heap a schoolchildren wait right here fe taxi fe go home a evening time, because a right beside the Bog Walk taxi stand the road break off."
In the meantime, Stephen Shaw, National Works Agency (NWA) communications manager, told The Gleaner that the agency was aware of the damage to the road, and noted that it was placed on a list of things to do.
