Bank on the fun
Daviot Kelly, Staff Reporter
After working hard all year, dealing with the many challenges that the financial sector can throw, Christmas is definitely time to party.
And that's what the staff at National Commercial Bank's Capital Markets Division did on Saturday, December 11 - doing their share of Christmas partying. But no division of one of Jamaica's top banks could have an ordinary, in-the-office-type affair. So Capital Markets teamed up with Blueprint Consulting to present the European Invasion at Devon House. Guests were transported to the shores of distant lands, from the Arc de Triomphe-esque entrance to the café-style seating near the gourmet area.
And speaking of the gourmet dishes on offer, the taste buds were also carried away as the menu featured dishes from France, Britain, Italy and good old Jamaica. Catering was done by Elite Kreations and guests weren't shy to ask for more. The delectable dessert was served up by Say It With Cakes let's just say 'devilish' and leave it at that. The dress code was high fashion, and women especially looked set to take on the top models of Milan or Paris.
A proud Capital Markets boss Dennis Cohen said the rough year was a good thing as they rose to the challenges and are better for the experience. He said they came together as a team and are looking forward to the year ahead. Now that sounds like reason to celebrate.
- ... Pensioners' party
NCB also recently fêted its pensioners at an enjoyable luncheon at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
The luncheon is held annually to share and spread the joy of the holiday season with the pensioners. The event primarily thanks these individuals for the foundation they have laid. Additionally, NCB uses the occasion to reflect on the year by highlighting the new developments, progress, challenges and focus of the organisation.
Veteran reggae singer Ernie Smith thrilled the audience with his wide repertoire of hits.
