The Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall's Escape to Luxury Couture was all the buzz last Thursday night in Montego Bay. In Mandeville, revellers rang in 2011 with Bubbly, and in the city, all roads led to Smirnoff X.Clusive in Cherry Gardens.

'Wife' on the scene!

1 Indeed, she has the apartment and the papers to show ownership. But she went ballistic during the holidays after seeing one too many displays of the gentleman and his 'lovely' wife on the social scene. She has reportedly read him the riot act, asking him to make a choice. Talk about a predicament. We are watching this one.

Great settings, but ...

2What kind of elegant affair has the host pouring sorrel from a store-bought gallon jug? Well, these guests were suitably impressed with the place settings and the ambiance, but they gave the thumbs down to that faux pas.

Upsetting the church

3Every mother thinks her child is the cutest, and near-celebrities think they and their offsprings have a monopoly on this quality. But churchgoers have low tolerance for a screaming toddler, and doting parents should understand this. In fact, most churchgoers now have minders, so parents should be considerate and stop upsetting the congregation.

Slow cops

4There is a broadly held view out there that the sophistication of some crimes point to collusion between the police and, sometimes, security guards. Take the matter of car theft. The ease with which cars are stolen and disposed of is cause for concern. Added to that is the usual slow response of the police when called to certain crime scenes, and this has led some to conclude that they do not really want to apprehend the criminals. Say it is not so, Mr Commissioner!
