LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (AP):

A couple have added a former Catholic priest to an ongoing lawsuit against the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Gary and Margie Weiter of Louisville say 63-year-old Bruce Ewing led a parish council even while serving probation for a 2007 conviction for the rape of a teenage parishioner in the 1970s.

The amended lawsuit already includes Archbishop James E. Kurtz.

The Weiters also claim that the archdiocese violated its own policies regarding sexual abuse. Gary Weiter was among 243 people who settled with the archdiocese in 2003 for $25.7 million over claims of past sexual abuse.

The archdiocese told The Courier-Journal that the former priest, Bruce Ewing, was not a parish council president, but would investigate the claims.
