In Jamaican politics, the colour green can cause a few problems regardless of your affiliation. But on March 17, wearing green means you are ready to eat, drink and be merry! That's because that's the day set aside as the feast day of St Patrick, Ireland's patron saint. Jamaica, true to its motto, has its fair share of Irish lads and lasses and some of them went bar-hopping Thursday before last to celebrate one of their homeland's greatest days. Some stopped over at 'The Pub' at Devon House (the Mahogany Tree Pub beside Grog Shoppe), where Red Stripe (through its Guinness brand), along with The Irish Guys group, kept the St Patrick's Day tradition alive and well.

There were no speeches or history lessons about the Irish first setting foot on our shores. This was just party time and Guinness, especially the complimentary drink for the evening, Guinness Draught, is the perfect beverage for St Patrick's Day. Copious amounts of it there were too (at a reduced price anyway) while others stuck to their 'regular' drinks, including good old rum!

Guests also utilised the restaurant's fare to complement the brew before heading off to other St Patrick's Day events across the Corporate Area.
