Hampstead in, Port Maria out of St Mary final
Port Maria United defeated Hampstead United 2-0 last Sunday in semi-final action of the St Mary leg of the Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Championship. However, all their efforts were in vain as in the end they were found guilty of using an ineligible player.
This means that Hampstead, who were awarded the game and a 3-0 goal margin, will play Jacks River today in the the parish's final at Eden Park, beginning at 3 p.m.
Jacks River defeated Cromwell Land 1-0 in their semi-final.
The ineligible player that Port Maria used was Raheem Walker, who is currently registered to St Georges Sports Club, which competes in the Digicel Premier League.
No player is allowed to participate in the competition if he is already registered with an organised club that participates in competitions under the umbrella of the Jamaica Football Federation.
It is virtually a similar situation in the race for St Catherine honours, as following quarter-final play between Cooton and Old Road last week, the game and a 3-0 win goal margin was awarded to Cooton over Old Road, after the latter were found to have used an ineligible player.
The player is Aaron Daley, who is unregistered.
Cooton will meet Caymanas Bay in the early game of a Lasco Oval semi-final double-header. Host community Central Village will play Point Hill in the feature at 3 p.m.
The winners will meet in the final on April 10 at the same venue, with the game to be preceded by the playing of the Portmore final between Westchester and Naggo Head.
Final matches rescheduled
The final four matches in the round of 16 in Westmoreland had to be rescheduled after match officials did not turn up for the games last week. They will be played this weekend.
At Grange Hill, Crowder are down to play GP All Stars at 1 p.m., while Construction will take on defending champions Sterling All Star at 3 p.m.
At the Little London High School, Logwood will meet United Strikers in the early kick-off, before Belgium and Pullet Lane do battle at 3 p.m.
At York Castle High School in St Ann, Glasgow will tackle Mount Edgecombe in the feature game, following the clash between Steer Town and Russian Youth.
The winner of the Glasgow/ Mount Edgecombe game will face Meadows in the April 7 quarter-final, while Ocho Rios YC await the winner of the other match.
The final is set for April 10, at a venue to be announced.
Eight teams will also be battling for semi-final spots in Trelawny this weekend, with reigning champs Flamingo to play Sawyers in the feature game of a quarter-final double-header at Troy.
Preceding the encounter will be Rock Spring versus Low River.
Over in Jackson Town, Lime Tree will seek to overcome Wilson Valley at 2 p.m., after which Ulster Spring will meet Mendez Town.
In St Elizabeth, Crawford and Balaclava will meet in a rescheduled quarter-final round game at Lacovia at 3:30 p.m., with both teams having a chance to go through.
