Summer to di World!
Two lucky individuals will get the chance to see Jamaica's athletes (hopefully) burn up the track at the Olympics next year.
That's the grand prize for Digicel's summer 2011 promotion, 'Summer To Di World,' that was launched at the Fiction lounge on Tuesday. By now, you must have seen the ads and commercials but the launch was an eye-catching event all on its own.
Pop quiz time. What's the fastest way to get 'to di world'? By plane, of course, and so innovative minds designed a section of the Market Place hotspot into a plane's cabin, with air hostesses, lighted aisle and even a video showing the wings of a real plane taking to the skies. Guests were even presented with 'boarding passes' (raffle tickets to take home a BlackBerry Bold).
The 'pilot', Digicel Jamaica CEO Mark Linehan, reiterated the company's excellence in promotions (remember Jus Buss et al?) and welcomed them aboard the first-class, "non-stop trip to London". His co-pilot, Patrick King, outlined the various prizes.
The incentives for this year's summer promotion are as exciting as previous years. Apart from the major prizes (third place - J$1 million; second place - BMW X1; first place - J$1 million, BMW X1 and the trip), there will also be plenty of credit to go around, discounts on Nokia handsets and BlackBerry Torch handset give-aways. Entertainment on 'the flight' was provided by new Digicel Rising Stars judge Tessanne Chin, the summer promotion jingle among her offerings. Now, that's some trip!
Guests out included: State Minister for Industry, Investment and Com-merce Michael Stern, Information Minister Daryl Vaz, Jean Lowrie-Chin, Joseph A. Matalon, Ian McNaughton, Janet Fagan, Ronald Jackson, Sharon Williams, Leighton Davis, Garth Walker, Dennis Chung and Don Anderson.
