Grammy Award winning American singer-songwriter, Mya, is all set to hit the Reggae Sumfest stage with international reggae singer, Wayne Wonder.

The duo recently collaborated on a powerful remix of Wayne Wonder's popular, chart-topping single, If I Ever, which is impacting radio in a huge way. According to Wayne Wonder's management, they thought it appropriate to invite Mya to perform the song live with the reggae crooner at the greatest reggae festival on earth.

If I Ever made its debut on the iTunes Reggae Chart at No. 4 in December last year and subsequently climbed its way up; in Jamaica, it topped the Jamaica Countdown Chart in June and remained in pole position for two weeks. Internationally, the single has received massive airplay and loads of positive feedback.

"Undoubtedly the single has performed commendably, but we are always looking to take things up a few notches and reach a wider audience and this is what we are confidently hoping to achieve with the collaboration with Mya," Wayne Wonder explained.

He said he was grateful to Mya for graciously accepting the invitation to perform with him at Reggae Sumfest.

"Mya is a wonderful talent, a great person and she gives the single added flavour. I am really looking forward to working the Sumfest stage with her," the Grammy-nominated reggae artiste declared.

Achievements

Mya, born Marie Harrison, was raised in Washington DC, in the United States (US). Her eponymous debut album with Interscope Records was released in April 1998, and sold over one million copies in the US, but it was her second studio album, platinum-selling Fear of Flying, (2000) that produced Mya's breakthrough hit single Case of the Ex, which reached No. 1 on the Australian Singles Chart.

A year after, Harrison won her first Grammy Award for the worldwide number-one hit Lady Marmalade, a cover version she recorded alongside Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Pink for the soundtrack of the film Moulin Rouge.

Reggae Sumfest's first event took place on Sunday with the festival getting well and truly under way from July 21-23.

Wayne Wonder will be performing on International Night II, the closing night of the festival.
