Give Yohan credit he deserves

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I am disappointed at the response of my fellow Jamaicans to young Yohan Blake's victory.

He has so much going for him to become a legend, too. He is the youngest ever 100m World champion, and it does not matter who false-started or not. He is a Jamaican and he is the best.

I want to see the same ecstatic outpouring of celebrations that we would have seen had it been Bolt who won. I love Bolt, too, but I want Yohan to get what he deserves, and he should receive a big welcome home.

Jamaicans need to stop picking at the facts to find fiction and simply accept the results. Yohan is an extraordinary champion to have reached this far. I hope there will be a motorcade to welcome him through the streets of Kingston, and I'm watching to see if corporate Jamaica has anything for him.
