The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) says it will release a newly completed study on development banks in Latin America, and their support role in addressing continuing and emerging challenges such as climate change.

The launch will be done at a seminar to be hosted by IDB at its headquarters in Washington DC on June 18.

The study assessed 56 of Latin America's public financial institutions, which together account for almost a quarter of the region's total lending, said IDB.

"In recent years, these institutions have moved from being a drain on public finances to having their strongest balance sheets in recent memory, providing the region with a unique advantage that are laid out in the report," the IDB said.
