Missing big picture on governance

THE EDITOR, Sir:

What a splendid article was Gordon Robinson's 'Enough is (never) enough! (Sunday Gleaner, February 23, 2014). Over and over again, Jamaica's politicians flap in various directions with limited attention to the basic, fundamental requirements of good governance.

I just wonder how many more Jamaicans would perform, be accountable, and act as responsible, productive citizens if only Government made Robinson's four fundamentals the focus of its activities and efforts.

This is not about the rejection of other important areas of good governance. This is about focusing on the fundamentals and getting those right.

By George, I am confident that all Jamaicans would be on board to ensure that it is full steam ahead for agriculture, manufacturing, production, exports, environmental integrity and other surrounding issues to give us a viable and healthy nation.
