It has been dubbed the "biggest film to come out of the United States, featuring world-famous Jamaican talent" and if the trailer is anything to go by, Jamaican Mafia is a must-see.
A trailer of sorts for the highly anticipated Jamaican movie has been released. The 53-second video was posted to the movie's official Facebook page last week. It has also been uploaded to YouTube.
In an August 2013 interview with The Gleaner, co-producer Orville Matherson said he believed the film had the potential to make movie history, while Elvis Griffiths said the film would "educate, entertain, and also titillate the minds of viewers with its suspense, and will captivate audiences with its dramatic and straightforward action scenes."
Written by Mykal Fax, the movie chronicles the life of Zoolian Anderson, also known as Zoo-Zoo (played by Fax), who gives up his job in the corporate world for a life of crime following revelations that he is the nephew of a powerful crime boss.
"I will give up my life for the Jamaican Mafia family. If I betray the Jamaican Mafia family, may I die the worst death," he said.
The video opens with Zoo-Zoo pledging his loyalty to the Jamaican Mafia family, swearing to die the most painful death if he ever betrays the allegiance.
Filmed in the United States of America, several of Jamaica's finest landed roles in the movie, including veteran actor Paul Campbell, who featured in films such as Shottas and Third World Cop, Fax, and dancehall's 'first lady' Michelle 'D'Angel' Downer.
D'Angel makes her movie debut with a supporting role. She plays sexy, seductive vixen, Robin, girlfriend of a high-profile gangster.
Produced by Matherson, Griffiths, Dale Foti and directed by Vafomba Donzo of Donzo Productions, the video has already received more than 5,000 views on YouTube, with users expressing their anxiety for the release of the movie.
