Jamaican audiences will be treated to an encore performance of National Theatre's War Horse at the Palace Cineplex this Sunday, May 11, at 11:30 a.m.

Since its first performance at the National Theatre in 2007, War Horse has become an international smash hit. Based on Michael Morpurgo's novel and adapted for the stage by Nick Stafford, War Horse takes audiences on an extraordinary journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of France during the First World War.

Sharing his inspiration, Michael Morpurgo said "I wanted to avoid writing a story about the First World War which was from one side or the other. It was important to me right from the outset to write a story which was a look at the universal suffering of that war and any war and, somehow, through the eyes of all the combatants."

Filled with stirring music and songs, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-size puppets by South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company, which brings breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life onstage.

This landmark production is complete with behind the scenes access.

The National Theatre in London is one of the UK's most prominent publicly funded theatre companies. The theatre presents a varied programme, including Shakespeare and other international classic drama, as well as new plays by contemporary playwrights.

National Theatre encore performances on screen at Palace Cineplex will run on Sundays until July, at 11:30 a.m..
