The Sterling Gospel Music Awards (SGMA) will mark its 10th anniversary with a special television broadcast, Sterling 10, on Sunday, October 18, at 9:30 p.m. on Television Jamaica.

The production will depart from the awards’ traditional event format, using television and online streaming to reach audiences in Jamaica, the Caribbean and overseas. It will also look back at the artistes, nominees and industry players who have contributed to the platform over the past decade.

“As we celebrate 10 years of Sterling, we look forward to building on our journey and creating even greater opportunities to recognise and elevate gospel talent,” said Basillia Barnaby-Cuff, co-founder and conceptualiser of the SGMA.

Sterling began in Mandeville with approximately 50 people. Ten years later, the awards have expanded their reach, continuing to recognise gospel artistes and draw attention to their contributions to the industry.

“Ten years is a testament to the vision behind Sterling and the talent that continues to shape gospel music in Jamaica. We are proud of how far the awards have come and excited about what lies ahead,” said co-founder and producer Brian Cuff.

This year’s production also introduces the Digital Impact Award, a new People’s Choice category recognising social media personalities and pages making a positive impact within the gospel and faith-based community. The category reflects the growing role of digital platforms in connecting audiences with gospel music, messages of faith and positive content.

Looking ahead, SGMA has signalled its intention to expand the brand beyond Jamaica, with plans to establish a presence in other countries. The ambition builds on the foundation established over the past 10 years, while creating opportunities to connect with gospel communities across the region and internationally.
