Integrity Commission appoints Murdock, Wright-Chin to senior roles

Attorney-at-law Kelly-Ann Murdock has been appointed Director of Corruption Prosecution at the Integrity Commission (IC).

Murdock, who has been acting in the position since March, was sworn in on Wednesday, August 5, by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, a statement from the agency said.

Murdock replaces Roneiph Lawrence, who tendered his resignation from the anti-corruption body in March.

Lawrence’s appointment to the position last year was met with objection from the ruling Jamaica Labour Party on the basis that he was reportedly a long time friend of People’s National Party General Secretary, Dr Dayton Campbell.

Murdock served in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Jamaica, where she held the positions of legal officer to the DPP, crown counsel and assistant DPP.

She has also served as a prosecutor in the Turks and Caicos Islands. She was admitted to the Jamaican Bar in December 2016.

Meanwhile, anti-corruption and good governance professional, Sashein Wright-Chin, was appointed the IC’s Director of Corruption Prevention, Stakeholder Engagement and Anti-Corruption Strategy.

Wright-Chin served as the Manager of Anti-Corruption Outreach and Education at the IC.

The Integrity Commission said the appointments are significant steps in strengthening the commission’s leadership team, ensuring continued dedication to its mission of promoting integrity and transparency in public life.

It noted that the new appointees bring a wealth of experience and commitment to their roles, which will further enhance the commission’s capacity to effectively address corruption, protect public interest, and uphold accountability.
