Jamaicans win victories in Croatia

Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown won the women’s 100 metres at the 59th IAAF Zagreb Grand Prix in Croatia today.



The two-time defending Olympic 200-metre champion won in 11.15 seconds, while her teammate Simone Facey finished seventh in 11.85.



The men’s 100-metre was won by American Darvis Patton in 9.94 seconds, while Jamaican Nesta Carter was third in 10.04.



There were two other victories for Jamaica at the meet.



Isa Phillips took the men’s 400-metre hurdles in 48.51, while Kaliese Spencer, 54.69, turned back her MVP teammate Melaine Walker, the Olympic and World Championship gold medallist, in the women’s equivalent.



The Jamaican pair of Novlene Williams-Mills and Olympic and World Championship silver medallist Shericka Williams went down to Russian Tatiana Firova in the women’s 400 metres.



Fiorovia won in 50.80, ahead of Williams-Mills, 50.96, and Williams, who clocked 51.14.



In the women’s 100-metres hurdles, Jamaican Delloreen Ennis-London, 12.76, finished second to American Dawn Harper, 12.67. Lacena Golding Clarke of Jamaica was fourth in 13.14.
