Hurricane Jimena has grown into a maximum category-five storm that is threatening 20,000 families on Mexico\'s Baja peninsula.
Weather officials say Jimena is packing winds of 250 kilometres or 155 miles-per-hour, but should weaken before it makes landfall today or tomorrow.
The BBC reports that emergency officials are preparing evacuation plans for high-risk areas, as residents begin boarding up homes.
The head of the civil protection agency in Los Cabos, says the evacuation plan will focus on the most densely populated areas.
