Chanderpaul, Gayle get two ICC nominations

Prolific West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, currently out of international cricket with several of his teammates because of a contracts row, has earned two nominations for the 2009 International Cricket Council (ICC) Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa.



Chanderpaul is among 14 players nominated for the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. The Guyanese is also nominated for One Day International Player of the Year.



Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan also received two nominations. Gayle has been nominated for One Day International Player of the Year and 20/20 International Performer of the Year.



Sarwan has been nominated for Cricketer of the Year and Test Player of the Year.



Other West Indies players appearing on the list are Kemar Roach as emerging player, and Stafanie Taylor as Women Cricketer of the Year.



The list is expected to be shortened in the coming weeks.



The function is slated for October 1 to coincide with the ICC Champions Trophy 2009.
