The Jamaica Anti-Doping Appeals Tribunal has upheld the decision of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel to clear sprinter Sheri-Ann Brooks of doping violations.

The decision was made earlier today at a public hearing at the Institute of Jamaica on East Street.

The case of the other four athletes, including Yohan Blake, a training partner of the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt was adjourned until September 14.

Allodin Fothergill, Marvin Anderson and Lansford Spence are the other athletes involved.

All five athletes returned Adverse Analytical Findings for the substance Methyl Hexa-na-mine during the National Championships in June.

However, the athletes were cleared by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel last month. However, the case was referred to the Appeals Tribunal because of an appeal by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO).

While Brooks was cleared last month because of an irregularity in testing her ‘B’ sample, the four others were cleared because the Jamaica Anti Doping Disciplinary Panel said it did not found any evidence to suggest that an anti-doping violation occurred.

Kent Gammon, chairman of the disciplinary panel said last month the substance was not on the banned list of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

However, JADCO appealed the decision of the disciplinary committee immediately saying the substance is considered by WADA as being of a similar chemical structure to Tua-mino-heptane, which is listed as an example of a stimulant in the WADA 2009 prohibited list.
