Officials to crackdown on tax evasion

Tax officials at an Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development conference in Mexico City have agreed to increase efforts to crack down on tax evasion.



However they have not yet come up with definite steps to achieve this.



Secretary General of the organisation, Angel Gurria has called the exercise nothing short of a revolution that confirmed the end of the era of banking secrecy as a shield for tax evaders.



In recent weeks some territories in the Caribbean have scrambled to get off the body’s so-called \"grey list\" of states that have not signed transparency agreements.
