The Guyanese government has defended the recent decision to deport members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints even as the main opposition People’s National Congress Reform, PNCR described the move as arbitrary.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon says the church members overstayed their time in the country and did not even bother to apply for an extention.
But the PNCR says its condemning the detention and subsequent expulsion of the Mormons.
The party says the arbitrary action by the Guyana Immigration Authorities and the Government of Guyana of denying those members of the religious community due process must be a matter of concern to all Guyanese.
