WI recalls Hendy Springer

West Indies have recalled Hendy Springer to help oversee the team’s International Cricket Council Champions Trophy campaign.



Springer, a former Barbados off-spinner is with the squad in South Africa, where West Indies are fielding a depleted side.



Springer was co-coach when West Indies visited Zimbabwe two years ago before he and David Williams served as assistant coaches to John Dyson on the subsequent trip to South Africa.



West Indies arrived in South Africa yesterday where they will have a camp in the city of Potchefstroom until September 16.



The team will then have warm-up matches against hosts South Africa on September 18 and Sri Lanka on September 20.



West Indies are drawn alongside Pakistan, Australia and India in Group ‘A’ of the Champions Trophy.



They face Pakistan on September 23, Australia three days later, and close against India on September 30.
