Luxury TCI resort closes

An exclusive resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Nikki Beach Resort and Spa has closed after less than two years in operation.
The resort, which opened in April 2008 catered to celebrities.
It had offered discounted airfares and room rates as part of its first anniversary celebrations earlier this year.
However General Manager Jonathan Steers said the business has now been placed into receivership.
Nikki Beach Resort is the latest in the region to close because of the global economic crisis.
