St Ann businesses rejecting $5000 note

Some business operators in Ocho Rios, St Ann are refusing to accept the new $5000 note from customers.



The business operators say they have difficulty finding change for the note and are trying to avoid confrontations with shoppers.



As a result, some have erected signs informing customers that the new note is not accepted at their establishment.



Other business operators say while they’re not rejecting the new note, its acceptance would be limited to their ability to find change.



Taxi operators in the parish have also expressed concerns saying some commuters may use the note to avoid paying fares.
