New York Orchestra cancels Cuba trip

Officials in Havana, Cuba have criticised the United States over the New York Philharmonic Orchestra\'s canceling of a tour to the island.

The orchestra was forced to cancel because of the US embargo on the communist-run island.

Cuba Institute of Music vice president, Alejandro Guma, has blamed Washington for the cancellation.

He says the US was the only party responsible for the failure of this major cultural project.

On Thursday the New York Philharmonic said it cancelled a concert series scheduled to take place in Havana between October 30 and November 2, 2009.

It cited difficulties created by the US embargo on Cuba for the decision.
