Progress of the CSME to be scrutinized
The status of the implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, (CSME) among member states will come into sharp focus this week.
At that time there will be a convocation on the CSME in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The meeting, which is slated for October 9, and 10 will receive and discuss an audit of the implementation of the CARICOM Single Market, CSM.
The CSM came into effect in January 2006.
The comprehensive audit was undertaken by the CARICOM Secretariat following a mandate by the Heads of Government at their 29th meeting in July 2008 in Antigua and Barbuda.
Among the issues for consideration at the Convocation are developments related to Contingent Rights.
Contingent Rights are privileges to which the dependents of skilled CARICOM nationals would be entitled when the dependents freely move from one member state to another to accompany the skilled national.
