Vincentians urged to vote out the Queen
St. Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is reiterating the need for a presidential head of state to replace the Governor General as the Queen\'s representative.
Vincentians will vote in a referendum on the proposed changes next month.
Dr Gonsalves is insisting that its time the country has its own home grown non-executive head of state.
Meanwhile, the opposition has been mounting its own campaign against the Government\'s efforts to get Vincentians to vote for the constitutional changes.
Opposition Leader Arnhim Eustace has described the governing Unity Labour Party’s use of US$1.5 million of taxpayers money for campaigning as unconstitutional.
Mr. Eustace, who is also the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, says he considers the arrangement unusual and highly improper.
