The education minister Andrew Holness has announced that changes are coming for the repayment scheme for borrowers of the Students’ Loan Bureau (SLB).
Mr Holness says plans are being put in place to align the repayment of loans to the salaries of beneficiaries.
Some SLB borrowers have complained about challenges in paying back loans, as they are required to repay the money even if they do not have a job.
They also want an extension of the six-month period that the SLB gives borrowers to start repaying their loans once their tertiary programme ends.
Mr Holness says the Government recognizes the challenges and has decided to help.
