JCA retains Chris Gayle as captain
The Jamaica Cricket Association, JCA, has confirmed West Indies batsman Chris Gayle as captain for the West Indies Cricket Board President’s Cup later this month.
Gayle, the estranged West Indies captain, was one of 18 players named to prepare for the tournament, which runs from October 28 to November 5 in Guyana.
The JCA also confirmed former youth player Zeniffe Fowler as the only new comer in the 18-man squad.
Nikita Miller and David Bernard Junior, two members of the makeshift West Indies’ Champions Trophy team, have been named in the squad.
Wavell Hinds, Brenton Parchment, Xavier Marshall, Shawn Findlay, Jerome Taylor, Darren Powell and Andrew Richardson have also been included.
The remaining members of the squad are Tamar Lambert, Carlton Baugh Junior, Brendan Nash, Jason Dawes, Krishmar Santokie, Danza Hyatt and Odean Brown.
Jamaica will open against reigning champions Trinidad and Tobago on October 28.
