Hyacinth Bennett calls for moral renewal
Government senator Hyacinth Bennett has renewed her call for a national moral renewal campaign as one way of addressing the country’s crime problem.
Making her presentation to the state of the nation debate in the senate this morning, Senator Bennett who also heads the Hydel Group of Schools says the country is in need of a national moral awakening to take the nation in a new direction.
Additionally she pointed to the need for a greater spiritual awakening among Jamaicans as another way of solving the country’s challenges.
Senator Bennett also called for leadership that is not based on politics but rather one that is preoccupied with fixing the country’s problems.
She further acknowledged that such an approach may result in expending scarce political capital.
