Good start for T&T
Caribbean champions Trinidad and Tobago made a dream start to the Champions League 20/20 in India today by crushing Somerset by 44 runs.
Electing to bat first, T&T gathered a sturdy 150-9 off their 20 overs and then bowled out the English county side for 106 in the Group ‘A’ fixture at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The result vaulted T&T to the top of the group on net run-rate over Somerset, who had upset Indian Premier League champions Deccan Chargers on Saturday.
Denesh Ramdin top scored for T&T with 39. He was well supported by captain Darren Ganga 23, Lendl Simmons 22 and William Perkin 20.
Bowling for Somerset, the South African Charl Willoughby bagged 3-35 off four overs, and his new-ball partner Alfonso Thomas and Max Waller claimed two wickets apiece.
South African Zander de Bruyn top scored for Somerset with an unbeaten 43 against the bowling of Dwayne Bravo 4-23, Sherwin Ganga 2-16 and Dave Mohammed 2-18.
T&T will next tackle Deccan Chargers on Wednesday.
