Winner of Courtney Walsh Award to be announced tonight

The winner of the 2009 Courtney Walsh Award for Excellence will be announced tonight at a function at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.



The function is scheduled to start at 6:30.



There are four nominees for the award. They are cricketer Gareth Breese, Berlin World Championship 100-metre hurdles gold medallist Brigitte Foster Hylton and footballers Donovan Ricketts and Fabian Davis.



The winner will receive a crystal trophy presented by Prime Minister Bruce Golding and $500,000.



The Award was established in 2005 by former Prime Minister P J Patterson and supported by the National Council on Sports in collaboration with the CHASE Fund to formally recognize the achievement of former Jamaica and West Indies cricketer Courtney Walsh.
