Cop accused of carnal abuse denied bail again
The police constable charged for carnally abusing a teenaged girl last year was again denied bail when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court this morning.
Twenty two year old Rushon Hamilton of the Harbour View Police Station has been in custody since last October.
Constable Hamilton, who is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 14 year old girl on October 4, is facing charges of carnal abuse, indecent assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Senior Puisne Judge Marva McIntosh refused to grant him bail due to what she said was the enormity of the charges against him.
She fears that if he is granted bail he will not turn up for his trial.
Constable Hamilton returns to court on October 30.
Jhaneel Goulbourne was abducted from her house in Harbour View, St Andrew on October 4 last year, two weeks after the matter of carnal abuse was reported to the police.
Constable Hamilton was later charged with murder following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions when the girl could not be found.
