Work at Stadium tracks to start soon

General manager of Independence Park Limited Major Desmond Brown says there should be no loss of development meets during the refurbishing of the tracks at Stadium East and the National Stadium.



The local track season starts in January with two development meets scheduled for the Stadium East track.



However, Major Brown says during January refurbishing works at the Stadium East track should be at an advanced stage if the overseas contractor is given the green light by next week to start the process.



But Major Brown says those development meets will be transferred to the National Stadium at no extra costs.



The National Stadium field will be refurbished after the completion of work at the Stadium East field.



Germany firm BSW Regupol, one of the four contractors which is bidding for the contract to refurbish the National Stadium and Stadium East tracks, has quoted US$700,000 to complete the projects.
