The High court in Grenada has ordered newspaper publisher George Worme to pay over 191,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars in damages to former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell by next Tuesday.

The court has also indicated that if the money is not paid by that time it would proceed to give an order for the publishers company called Grenada Today to be liquidated.

In 2001, the Grenada Today published a letter that was deemed to have been libelous of Prime Minister Mitchell.

The Prime Minister filed a suit and in 2003 a judgment was handed down awarding damages in the sum of 120,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars.

The award was appealed, and in 2004 the Court of Appeal increased it to 191,000 EC dollars.

The money is yet to be paid over.
