The trial of former junior energy minister Kern Spencer and his former personal assistant Colleen Wright has again been put off.

It’s now set to resume on November 17.

Mr Spencer and his former personal assistant are on corruption charges for their role in the controversial Cuban light bulb project.

The trial was expected to resume in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today.

However the defense lawyers said they have not yet received the transcripts for the recorded telephone conversations between Mr Spencer and former co-accused now Crown witness, Rodney Chin.

They say they are still awaiting additional statements from the prosecution.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewellyn told the court this morning that the police also needed more time to transcribe the recordings which she said are in deep creole.

The trial has already been postponed twice.

The DPP said there are 25 recordings of conversations between Mr Chin and Mr Spencer and two between Mr Chin and Sherine Shakes.

Sherine Shakes is the mother of Spencer’s child.

Ms Shakes was named as a project manager of one of Mr Spencer’s companies that was set up to distribute the Cuban light bulbs.
