Parliament appeals for Cuban embargo to end

There was agreement from both sides in Parliament this afternoon as members debated a resolution for the US to remove the trade embargo on Cuba.

The Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica, and his contingent were in the gallery to hear the debate.

The proposer of the resolution, South West St Andrew MP Anthony Hylton, led the appeal as the debate on the resolution got underway.

The deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs minister, Dr Ken Baugh, said the US embargo has significantly affected trade from the Caribbean nation.

Dr Baugh says Jamaica has never sought to facilitate that blockade in any way.
