Business community welcomes JCF strategic priorities

At least one member of the business community is welcoming the move by the Acting Police Commissioner, Owen Ellington to outline clear priorities as he takes over the leadership of the force.

Yesterday the Acting Police Commissioner listed crime reduction and in particular murders at the top of his list.

While the strategies are not new, President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Milton Samuda is hoping they will be effectively implemented.

Mr Samuda is also hoping to see more civilians being assigned to duties in the force which do not necessarily require police personnel.

He is further urging the leadership of the force to intensify police patrols at nights particularly in commercial areas.

Meanwhile Social Commentator, Martin Henry believes the strategies to fight crime can only work if they’re free from political interference.
