Trinidad officially in recession

The governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago has officially confirmed that the country is in a recession.
According to the bank’s governor Ewart Williams, output was estimated to have fallen by 3.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2009 - the third successive quarterly drop.
He has also been quoted as saying the slowdown in economic activity could continue until the second quarter of next year.
