Aristide\'s party barred from election

Election officials in Haiti have barred the political party of former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide from legislative elections scheduled for February.



The president of the electoral council, Gaillot Dorsainvil said the party does not meet all legal requirements.



However he refused to provide further details.



Mr Aristide has criticized the decision, from his exile in South Africa, and is questioning whether officials wanted to hold fair and democratic elections.
