The number of road fatalities has been pushed to 306 following two more road traffic deaths today.

This time last year, the same number of people had been killed road traffic crashes.

The police say 29-year-old Kenrick Mitchell of Montpelier District in Hanover died in hospital following a traffic crash along the Orchard main road.

Mitchell, who was driving a Toyota Corolla, was racing with the driver of a Honda Integra on route to Sandy Bay.

The police say Mitchell overtook the Integra and then crashed head on into a Toyota Land Cruiser.

Both cars overturned and collided into the Honda Integra.

The police say the driver of the Integra fled the scene.

Five other passengers including a 5-month-old baby were treated and released while the driver of the Land Cruiser was admitted in serious condition.

In the meantime, the police are appealing to the driver of the Honda Integra to turn himself in for questioning.
