Jamaican goalkeeper to apply for UK entry permit

Jamaican international goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts will visit the British Embassy today to apply for an Entry Permit after he was refused entry back into England last Friday.

Ricketts was returning to England to join his League Two side Bradford City, after participating in Jamaica’s friendly international against Trinidad and Tobago.

However, an immigration officer at Heathrow Airport denied the player entry, citing that he did not complete the necessary requirement of having his passport stamped to allow him to be employed in the UK.

General Manager of the Jamaica’s National Team, Howard Bell said he would accompany Ricketts to the British Embassy.

According to the BBC website, Bradford was told that a new work permit would be rejected, and Ricketts was no longer the club’s main goalkeeper and his contract would expire in three months.
